In an effort to show that /r/gaming isn't just video games, we'll be showcasing non-video games and inviting you to post and discuss. If this takes off, it could be a regular feature, and we'll be taking suggestions for future NVGs of the week! Future NVGs will include: board games (such as Settlers of Catan,) card games (such as poker,) and tabletop games (such as D&D.) Just no physical sports.
Precursors to chess can be found as far back as the 6th century, and the modern-day version has been around for more than 500 years, with competitive play for nearly two centuries. It is a game with near-worldwide appeal, played by young and old, patzer and grandmaster alike, and it is for these reasons we've chosen chess as our pilot feature.

Ask for advice on an opening (What's the best Sicilian variation, and why is it the Najdorf?)
Submit your favourite chess lectures and games
Maybe even pics of your favourite chess players? (NOTE: Must be playing at the time, to keep it gaming-related!)
