The non-video game of the week: SETTLERS OF CATAN!

In the spirit of Christmas and New Year's, this week's non-video game shows off a favourite for small families. What better way to celebrate the holidays with family than by asking your dad if he's got wood for sheep? Come trade your posts, anecdotes and ideas with us. You might just win the longest road card for your thread!

Some things you can discuss here:

Show off special or customized boards! (Here's a famous gaming post where OP made a Catan board out of cupcakes)

Have you played any specialized versions like Star Trek Catan? If so, how did it go, and does it compare well to the original?

What's your favourite expansion? Which one really sucked? (I like Traders & Barbarians myself, even though my family only liked the fisheries part of it.)

Do you play like a gentleman and put the robber on the 12 to spare your mom, or do you go for the jugular and slam it on that 6, even if it means you'll be cut out of the will?

What's the ideal number of players? Is 3 best or too boring, 4 best or too cramped, are the 5-6 player expansions too much or just right?

DAMN IT, WHY WON'T ANYONE TRADE ME A BRICK?! I KNOW YOU'VE GOT ONE, SIS! DON'T ACT LIKE YOU DON'T! (2meirl4meirl?)

Enjoy, and happy gaming!
